Newport News man dead following shooting

HAMPTON — Police here are soliciting information from the public in connection with a Thursday night shooting that left a Newport News man dead.

Police identified the victim as Samuel Elijah Hill, 33.

Dispatchers fielded several calls at around 9:59 p.m. about a shooting in the 300 block of Lincoln Street.

There, police found Hill “suffering from gunshot wounds.”

He died at the scene.

Further information about the incident was not immediately released.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Hampton Police at 757–727–6111 or the Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
