Man shot to death in Virginia Beach was from Newport News

Virginia Beach Police have identified the man shot to death over the weekend as Deangelo Errol Thomas of Newport News.

He was 24 years old.

Dispatchers fielded several calls around 2:26 a.m. Aug. 5 about gunshots in the 300 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard.

There, police found Thomas “suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso,” authorities said.

Virginia Beach Police said the shooting appears “to have resulted from a dispute between several individuals.”

Thomas was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The case remains under investigation.
