Body of Hampton man found in drainage ditch

HAMPTON — Investigators from the Virginia State Police have identified the man whose whose body was found floating in a drainage ditch on Interstate 64 Sunday as Kenneth Lamont Jarvis, 32.

Authorities said he was from the 100 block of Majestic Court in Hampton.

State police were called around 7:56 p.m. after dispatchers fielded calls from several motorists who reported finding the body at the off-ramp to westbound Mercury Boulevard of eastbound I-64.

“The State Police Search and Rescue Team were called to recover the body from the drainage ditch, and agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations will be performing the investigation and cause of death,” VSP spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

Further information about the case was not immediately released.
