Here’s where you can get your child’s vaccinations for the upcoming school year

NEWPORT NEWS — The new school year is fast approaching and the Peninsula Health Department is providing all vaccinations required for school entry.

According to the Department of Health, all rising kindergarteners must receive required vaccinations before starting school and students going to the sixth grade must have the Tdap vaccine.

The city said for the Peninsula Health Department, 416 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., appointments are not required but you have to bring a copy of your child’s shot record.

Walk-in hours are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

According to the city, immunizations are administered Wednesdays from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. only.

If capacity is reached during walk-in hours the Peninsula Health Department may adjust the hours.

Check in times will be extended on Aug. 28 and Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 7:15 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
