Cops need information about this deadly shooting

NEWPORT NEWS — Police here are investigating a Thursday night shooting that left a man dead.

Authorities have not identified the man Friday morning.

At 9:41 p.m. Thursday police and fire crews were sent to the 600 block of 19th Street on a report of a vehicle fire.

On the way to the scene police were informed “the incident involved a shooting victim.”

“Upon the arrival of police and fire personnel, a male victim was located in the driver seat of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” said Sgt. Randal Bailey, Newport News Police spokesman. “The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
