Recalls issued for both Ritz and Goldfish crackers

Companies Pepperidge Farm and Mondelez International have issued voluntary recalls to certain products because of possible salmonella contamination.

Pepperidge Farm has recalled four varieties of Goldfish Crackers after being notified by one of its ingredient suppliers that whey powder in a seasoning that is applied to four varieties of crackers has been the subject of a recall by the whey powder manufacturer because of the potential presence of Salmonella, according to a news release from the company.

Pepperidge Farm issued a voluntary recall of the following varieties:

  • Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar
  • Flavor Blasted Sour Cream & Onion
  • Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar
  • Goldfish Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel

Mondelez International also recalled certain Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and Ritz Bits products because of the same whey powder salmonella contamination concern.

According to information from both companies, no illnesses have been reported and the voluntary recall is being done as a precaution based on the ingredient supplier’s recall.

The companies are advising those who have bought the products to discard them and not eat them.
