NEWPORT NEWS — Now that summer is in full swing a lot of people will be cleaning out their attics, garages and houses.
Where does all of that stuff go? Perhaps to yard sales.
But before you set up, the city has a few rules regarding yard sales:
- If you are having a yard sale, residents are required to get a permit from the Newport News Police Department for $5.
- Residents are limited to having four yard sales per year.
- All yard sale signs are allowed on your property only – they are not allowed in the city’s right of way, such as medians or intersections.
Permits can be purchased at Police Headquarters, 9710 Jefferson Ave., Central Precinct, 611 Dresden Drive, and North Precinct, 368 DeShazor Drive.
