Here’s how you can serve as a host parent for a foreign exchange student

NEWPORT NEWS — The city is looking for host families for the International Student Exchange Program.

The program which partners with local schools, allows families to connect with a student between the ages of 15 to 18 for 10 months during the school year.

Students come from 40 different countries, have full insurance and spending money, according to a news release from the city.

The city is currently looking for host families for next school year and the application process begins on July 1.

All families are encouraged to host, including working parents, single parents, empty-nesters. There are no restrictions, according to the news release.
