NEWPORT NEWS — As local schools ended their school year, the library system here kicked off its summer reading challenge.
The summer reading challenge began Monday and will last until July 31.
To get in on the fun, all participants have to do is fill out an activity reading card which, when completed, will be entered for weekly drawings.
Those who complete the program and turn in their final card will be entered into the grand prize drawing.
As part of the six-week challenge, individual libraries will host family programs, teen programs and story time sessions.
A similar themed adult reading program will also take place until the end of July.
