NEWPORT NEWS — A former board member will head the Peninsula Airport Commission at the beginning of next month.
Sharon Scott, a Newport News resident, will head the commission after serving on the board for the last two years.
Scott also has served on the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
“It is an honor to serve as the incoming chair of PAC. I look forward to working with fellow commissioners, executive director (Michael) Giardino and his staff to enhance services provided at PHF. In collaboration with our stakeholders, we can reach our greatest potential,” Scott wrote in a news release from the commission.
The commission is comprised of four members from Newport News and two from Hampton. The commission oversees the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport.
The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is served by two airlines: American and Delta, with non-stop service to three destinations — Atlanta, Charlotte and Philadelphia.
