HAMPTON — A 24-year-old man police say barricaded himself with a gun inside a home Monday has been arrested.

Kwame Sekou Imo, with a last known address in the 700 block of Greystone Way, is charged with brandishing a firearm and unlawful entry.

Police were sent to the 1st block of Frissell Street for “an armed and disorderly subject,” at around 1:30 a.m.

There, a 35-year-old woman told officers the suspect, later identified as Imo, had a gun and was “displaying the firearm at her and others.”

The woman and others inside the home were able to get out, but Imo “armed with a handgun, retreated back inside the dwelling and refused contact with the officers,” police wrote in a news release.

The Hampton Police Division SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called and were able to establish contact with Imo, who was taken into custody without further incident at around 5:32 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
