HAMPTON — City police said the skeletal remains found on North Mallory Street on May 21 belonged to the Nansemond Indian Tribe.
Authorities were notified of human bones found on the 1300 block of North Mallory Street at 9 a.m. on May 21 and also found Nansemond Indian Tribe bones on May 30 on the same street.
A Richmond Medical Examiner’s anthropologist said the remains appear to be historical, therefore the investigation has been turned over to the State Historical Archaeologist Department, police said.
