Forget baby shower, Newport News is hosting a kitten shower

NEWPORT NEWS — The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter is looking for donations and adopters.

The shelter is hosting an on site “kitten shower” from noon to 3 p.m. on May 20 at 5843 Jefferson Ave.

The shelter is receiving kittens on a daily basis this time of the year so they will be accepting donations, including heating pads, milk replacement, hot water bottles, kitten toys and Royal Canine Baby Cat Food, according to a news release from the city.

The baby-themed event is not only highlighting kittens for adoption but will give guests the chance to learn about the different stages of kitten development and the care needed with each of these stages.

Activities will also include submitting name ideas for new arrival kittens and finding out what is involved in becoming a foster parent.

For information, visit the shelter’s Facebook page.
