HAMPTON — Young architects will get their chance to “build” Hampton.
The Hampton History Museum is hosting its third annual “Build the City” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 19 at Carousel Park in Downtown Hampton.
The event will allow children to construct a large-scale model of Hampton, using boxes other recyclables, construction paper, chalk and paint, according to a news release from the Hampton History Museum.
“As someone who loves history and architecture, this is one of my favorite events. Adults enjoy it just as much as kids,” said Luci Cochran, the museum’s executive director, in the news release. “I’ve seen several generations of families, as well as people who’ve just met, collaborate on a building. They can get pretty elaborate. Building the Hampton Coliseum, Air & Space Center or Hampton Carousel requires some ingenuity. The results are amazing.”
The event is free and parking will be located in the garage diagonally across Settlers Landing Road from Carousel Park.
