If you’re a writer, you might want to consider this conference

NEWPORT NEWS — Christopher Newport University’s Lifelong Learning Society is holding its 37th annual Writers Conference on May 4-5.

Among the workshops at the two-day event are “Hints for Polishing Your Fiction Submission,” “Writing for the Screen,” “The Well-Stocked Revision Toolbox” and “Writing Letter Poetry.”

Registration on Friday is from 3:30-4:30 p.m. There’s an open mic from 4:30-6 p.m., followed by a keynote speaker panel from 6:30-7:45 p.m.

The evening ends with workshops from 8-9:15 p.m.

On Saturday, registration is from 8:15-8:45 a.m. The morning workshops are from 9-10:20 a.m. and the keynote panel is from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

After a break for book sales and signings, as well as lunch, the early afternoon workshops go from 1-2:20 p.m. The late afternoon workshops follow from 2:30-3:50 p.m.

The conference ends with the announcement of contest winners and closing words beginning at 4 p.m.
