NEWPORT NEWS — It’s General Election season in Newport News.
Polls will open for Election Day (May 1) at 6 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. The deadline to vote absentee is April 28.
In Newport News, the mayor, city council and school board seats are up for grabs.
In order to vote in Virginia, a valid ID is required. Valid forms of ID include a Virginia driver’s license or identification card, a Virginia DMV issued Veteran’s ID card, a U.S. passport, or any other government-issued photo identification cards (must be issued by U.S. Government, the Commonwealth of Virginia, or a political subdivision of the Commonwealth), according to a news release from the city.
