WILLIAMSBURG — Colonial Williamsburg’s annual pie sale kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and promises a wide range of baked goods ready for Thanksgiving tables around the country.
The pie sale will open its doors beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday and will continue on Wednesday, closing at 4 p.m. each day or until all baked goods are sold out. All baked goods are first come, first serve and pre-orders are not available.
The pie sale was originally held at the Raleigh Tavern Bakery. When the sale grew in popularity, the culinary team at Colonial Williamsburg moved it to its current location at Taste Studio.
“We’ve had regulars coming back year after year after year that had been going to the Raleigh Tavern Bakery. By moving, it’s helped us to get some new guests to the sale. A lot of people felt that having to traipse through the historic area and having to park 5 to 10 minutes away wasn’t worth it for the pies, so the move to Taste makes things easier now,” said Felicia Sensiba, Director of Restaurants of Colonial Williamsburg.
Available pies include rum cream, apple cranberry, pumpkin, chocolate peanut butter, and pecan. There will also be sweet potato loaves and Sally Lunn bread. There will be 50 pies of each flavor daily.
“The rum cream is very popular because it’s a Campbell’s Tavern signature pie, but they are all really popular. The peanut butter pie was sold at Chowning’s Tavern, the pecan and pumpkin are always popular. There isn’t a dud,” Sensiba said.
The pie sale will return before Christmas and is currently slated for December 23 and 24.
