York County Library Hosting Summer Reading Kickoff on June 27

YORKTOWN— The Tabb Branch of the York County Library announced it will host a summer reading kickoff event on June 27 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This summer’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” The event is open to all ages, from infants to adults. The library has set a goal of 2,024 books read between July 1 and Aug. 9.

According to the library, visitors on June 27 can discover what it has to offer and sign up for the summer reading program. There will be activities including games, crafts, and more, and food trucks DD214 and Fit Eatz will also be on site. Vehicles from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit and the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety will be available for tours. There will be a special storytime for families inside the library beginning at 5 p.m, and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Balloons by Susan will craft imaginative balloon creations for kids.

A local author fair will also take place on June 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Tabb Library meeting room. Participating authors include Narielle Living, Patti Procopi, Carrie Fancett Pagels, Heidi Hartwiger, Allison Keli, Samantha Parrish, Tiffany Rebar, David A. Salomon, and Eve Pollard Lawrence. Authors will have copies of their work available for purchase.
