WILLIAMSBURG — Junkluggers of Williamsburg has launched a Live Christmas Tree Recycling Campaign to benefit the animals at the Virginia Living Museum.
Through Jan. 11, Junkluggers will offer free removal of live Christmas trees with any size job that is scheduled with them. It will also be collecting the live trees at its resale shop, Remix Market Williamsburg, on Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We contacted the Virginia Living Museum and they were ecstatic to be able to work with us,” Zach Kirkpatrick, general manager of Junkluggeres Williamsburg, said. “They mentioned that they were always looking for and welcome to accepting Christmas Trees and using them to enhance the animal’s habitats.”
Junkluggers will deliver the trees to the museum, which will then place the trees in the animals’ habitats.
“The scent of the trees stimulates natural behavior in our furry friends like the foxes, wolves and coyotes, and the trees are fun for turtles and fish to play hide and seek with,” according to Junkluggers Brand Ambassador Jen Tetreault.
“Its a way for us to live our mission and reuse these trees,” Kirkpatrick added.
All Christmas Trees must be free of lights, decorations, and flocking at the time of pick up. Junkluggers and The Virginia Living Museum will also film the introduction of the trees to the animals at a to-be-determined time and date.
Details about the filming will be announced on the Junkluggers Facebook page. For more information about Junkluggers and its services, visit its official website.
