WILLIAMSBURG — James City County Library will be hosting a Mini Comic Workshop for teens led by Laura Lee Gulledge on July 23.
Laura Lee Gulledge is a freelance teaching artist. She has experience working with a variety of students from different age ranges and backgrounds.
“I will walk them through the process of visual storytelling, and we will actually make a character as a group, develop their world and pull out a story, and I will draw it out as a six-panel comic with a title and everything.” Gulledge explained.
“They will get to experience what I call artnery. Which is co-creation,” she continued. “So that’s a big thing that I like to give students as an experience that is special. Because I think a lot of visual art workshops are more about how you make art by yourself, or here, copy me, and that’s not interesting to me.”
The workshop will be July 23 from 1-4 p.m. at the James City County Library in Williamsburg. Teens aged 13 to 18 should register in advance by calling 757-741-3300 and select option 2.
