JAMES CITY COUNTY — A single vehicle crash in the early morning hours of Fri., Oct. 29, 2021 ended with one fatality.
According to Virginia State Police (VSP), at approximately 1:32 a.m., the department reported to the scene in order to investigate a reported crash on Interstate 64 eastbound near mile marker 229.
The investigation showed that Brandon D. Pearson, 28 years old of Chesterfield, was the driver (and only occupant) of a 2017 Nissan Rogue. He was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. At that time, the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Pearson died at the scene due to injuries he sustained during the crash.
There were no other vehicles or persons involved with the crash.
VSP notes that Pearson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and that alcohol did not play a contributing factor.
