JAMES CITY COUNTY — On Oct. 28, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily shift east and westbound traffic on Longhill Road to the eastbound lanes on the south side of the roadway, between Glenburnie Road and New Point Road.
This part of the widening project is expected to be in place for the next one to two months. While this section of the roadway is closed, all businesses on this section of Longhill will continue to be accessible.
Additionally, VDOT will also be installing an underground pipe at the intersection of Longhill Road and Olde Towne Road near the 7-Eleven. The project will reduce that section to one travel lane. There will be a flagger on hand to alternate traffic. The project is estimated to take place on Oct. 28 and Nov. 1 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Due to the increase in construction activity and current traffic configuration along Longhill Road and the Olde Towne Road/Devon Road intersection, motorists should anticipate potential delays, utilize alternate routes, and plan their commutes by using VDOT’s free traffic information tools that can be found on the VDOT 511 tools website.
