YORK COUNTY — York County Schools Division (YCSD) and the York County Planning Commission are scheduled to hold their monthly meetings in the coming weeks. Here is a rundown of the respective agendas.
Both meetings will be held at York Hall, 301 Main Street.
York County Schools Division will hold their monthly meeting tonight, Monday, Oct. 25, beginning at 7 p.m.
At this meeting the board will hear a presentation on how YCSD’s membership in the Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Associations (HRETA) impacts the district.
HRETA is a consortium of 20 public school systems in Hampton Roads and on the Eastern shore that owns WHRO Public Media. WHRO-TV, as well as public radio stations, WHRV (89.5FM) and WHRO-FM (90.3) are the only public stations in the country to be owned by a group of public school systems.
Bert Schmidt, the president and CEO of the company will give a presentation and field questions from the board.
Action items for this months meeting will include the consideration of approval for the 2021-22 school system pay plan as well as considering the approval of a Proclamation for American Education Week from Nov. 15-19.
There will be a policy discussion on members of School Board advisory committees should have term limits. Once the issue is discussed, any proposed changes will be added to the policy for a second reading at a later meeting.

The York County Planning Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The Commission will consider a request to amend the York County Zoning Map in order to be able to use a piece of land located at 1737 Back Creek Road for commercial use.
Currently, York County has the land classified as residential.
The petitioners own the parcel in question, as well as Mills Marina next door and plan to park boats and other marina equipment on the property.
