WILLIAMSBURG — Each year, cities all around the world participate in a day of fundraising and awareness of human trafficking called Walk for Freedom.
The annual event, which is being held for the fourth time this year, is in conjunction with the global organization, A21, which fights to end human trafficking around the world through raising awareness and funds, providing resources for human trafficking survivors and convict human traffickers.
This year, Walk for Freedom will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in Colonial Williamsburg.
Deb Goodwin, a Walk for Freedom planning committee member, said that there will be tables set up by local organizations that are combating human trafficking in the area, as well as speakers at the event.
The event will conclude with a silent walk through Colonial Williamsburg while the organization passes out information to the community.
The Walk will begin in front of the Capitol Building, E Duke of Gloucester St., and will continue down Duke of Gloucester St, down and in front of the Palace, before turning around at Merchants Square where it will meet where it started.
