WILLIAMSBURG — An Occasion for the Arts (AOftA) is returning to Merchants Square this weekend, Oct. 2-3, 2021.
The event, which is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, will include local artists and artisans, selling items to include: graphics and printmaking, photography, glass, painting, sculpture, fiber, drawing, wood, jewelry and ceramics.
In a Sept. 28 release from AOftA, it states that Director of Engagement & Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Muscarelle Museum of Art Steve Prince will invite budding artists of all ages to stop by a tent at Prince George Street at the corner of the Boundary and participate in a community arts project.
In partnership with the McLeod Tyler Wellness Center at William & Mary, new highlights for the 2021 festival includes workshops and discussions on how the arts can improve wellness.
Art created by students enrolled in the Williamsburg James City County Public Schools, upper York County schools, and the areas private schools will be on display in an exhibit that will span 2,500 square feet.
The fifty-three-year-old festival returns to in-person after having to move virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
