JAMES CITY COUNTY — Have some outdoor family time while learning more about the environment.

James City County (JCC) Parks and Recreation will hold Forest Explorers Friday: Creeks & Waterways on Friday, Sept. 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m on the Powhatan Creek Trail.

Forest Explorers Friday takes place each month and brings outdoor lovers on a Walk & Talk nature program and guided walk.

Children and their parents will cross over a 696-foot long timber bridge to get a unique vantage point to explore the creeks and waterways.

The guide will present a nature trip through the forest so participants can learn about plants, wildlife, insects and more.

The group will meet at the Powhatan Creek Trail, 3131 Ironbound Road in the Clara Byrd Baker parking area.

The event is free and for all ages.
