JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County Police (JCCPD) made an arrest in an Atlantic Union Bank robbery.
On Sept. 17, 2020, at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a robbery call at the Atlantic Union Bank located at 5125 John Tyler Highway.
The suspect told the bank teller that he had a gun and demanded money. He fled from the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
JCCPD said that there were no injuries.
JCCPD was assisted by Virginia State Police K9 and Newport News K9 in searching the area.
The investigation identified the offender as 58-year-old Richmond man James Washington. Police obtained a warrant for armed robbery for Washington back in March of this year.
Richmond Police Department arrested Washington on Sept. 7, and he is currently being held at Richmond City Jail.
