JAMESTOWN — WJCC Schools has decided to postpone the junior varsity and varsity Jamestown vs. Smithfield High School football games that were originally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9 and Friday, Sept. 10.
At this time, no student-athlete or coach on either team has tested positive for COVID, but Jamestown high school athletes and coaches were notified about potential exposure after last week’s opening away game against Essex High School.
“Both teams are disappointed to postpone Friday’s game,” said Jamestown Principal Howard Townsend. “However, the health and safety of our student-athletes must come first.”
13 Jamestown players will be in quarantine for 10-14 days as an extra precaution. Jamestown’s second varsity football game of the season has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct. 26, at Smithfield.
The date for the Jamestown junior varsity game has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30, at Sanford B. Wanner Stadium.
