HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 6, which means many employees will have a long weekend.
In observance of Labor Day, a federal holiday that celebrates the contributions and achievements of American workers, the following local government offices will be closed.
James City County
James City County offices, facilities, libraries and courts will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6.
Curbside recycling collections will be delayed by one day. Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday.
All County Parks will be open, including guest services offices and stores on Monday, Sept. 6.
The pool and splashpad at Chickahominy Riverfront Park as well as the pool at Upper County Park will be open Sept. 3-4, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sept 5-6, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
City of Williamsburg
All City of Williamsburg offices will be closed all day Monday, Sept. 6 to observe Labor Day. This includes all city offices, offices at the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street, Quarterpath Recreation Center, and the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Ave.
Waller Mill Park will keep normal operating hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) will be closed on both Sunday, Sept. 5 and Monday, Sept. 6.
It is important to note that garbage and recycling will be collected on its regular schedule for both Monday and Tuesday.
Residents with water emergencies that occur after normal business hours or on weekends and holidays are asked to call (757) 220-2331.
Additionally, residents who need to pay a city bill can leave their payment in a 24-hour bill payment dropbox located at the municipal building at 401 Lafayette St. Payments made through the dropbox on Sept. 6 will not be posted until Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Residents can also make payments online through the city’s website.
York County
York County offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6 to observe Labor Day.
The following facilities will be closed on Labor Day: courts, York-Poquoson Social Services, York County Public Libraries, Waste Management Center Offices, VPPSA Composting Facilities and York-Poquoson Cooperative Extension.
The Republic Transfer Station and citizen drop-off areas for garbage and recycling are open regular operating hours.
Curbside garbage collections will maintain the normal schedule.
Curbside recycling collections will be delayed by one day. Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, ending with Friday routes being collected on Saturday.
