Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER COUNTY — The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

On Saturday, Aug. 14 at approximately 8:23 p.m., 50- year-old Liam M. Greenhalgh was walking in the eastbound lane at the intersection of Guinea Road and Rowes View Lane during a heavy rainfall.

Brett Daniel Quirk, the driver of a 2017 Volkswagen Golf, was heading east on Guinea Road when he struck Greenhalgh.

Greenhalgh succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

According to VSP, there was no indication that Quirk was speeding or that he was impaired.

The accident remains under investigation.
