
JAMES CITY COUNTY — An arrest has been made in the homicide of Diamont’e Malik Brown, 22.
According to a news release from James City County Police Department (JCCPD), officers from the department arrested Naieveo Alidro Hairston, 42-years-old of Newport News at a motel in Newport News.
Hairston is charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony (2 counts), malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, murder and robbery.
On Aug. 8, around 9:15 p.m., JCCPD and Fire Departments responded to the area of Carriage Road and Alesa Drive to a reported gunshot victim.
The victim, later identified as Diamont’e Malik Brown, 22 years old of York County, was found unresponsive laying in the street in the 200 block of Alesa Drive. He was transported by medics to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
A second victim, a 22-year-old James City County man, reported being shot in the leg and had already been driven to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center by a friend prior to officers’ arrival. His injuries are not life threatening.
The investigation remains active.
