WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Parks and Recreation is bringing back StoryWalk this weekend at Waller Mill Park, 901 Airport Rd, in honor of National Book Lover’s Day on Aug. 9.
Now through Monday, Aug. 9, children and their families can take a self-guided reading walk through Waller Mill Park and follow the 30 reading stations of the children’s book “You’re Missing It” by Brady Smith with Tiffany Thiessen.
The self-guided reading walks allow families to take part in literacy and physical exercise in the great outdoors.
“Visitors enjoyed our first StoryWalk in March, and we wanted to continue these walks as a way to bring families together in the outdoors,” Program Specialist Jinger Hickman said. “This month’s StoryWalk is a hilarious cautionary tale about what happens when you’re glued to your phone, the importance of staying in the moment, and enjoying all of the exciting things you can see on a day at the park. StoryWalk is typically geared toward children, but this month’s event has a takeaway for the parents, too.
“We hope StoryWalk will help our park visitors unplug for a moment and enjoy everything our park has to offer with their families,” Hickman added.
Waller Mill Park is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
