WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) is thrilled to introduce Brainfuse, a powerful new digital resource that has something to offer students, job seekers, and military veterans alike.
This new service comes courtesy of the Library of Virginia, which recently made Brainfuse subscriptions available to all public libraries statewide.
Brainfuse offers three distinct programs, each aimed at serving the needs of a different type of user. The first of these is HelpNow, an all-in-one suite of tutoring services for a wide range of academic needs. Students can access live, on-demand academic help on everything from tackling a tough homework problem to writing a paper to mastering a particular topic. Tutors and students communicate in real time in an online classroom by typing, drawing, and marking up lessons and web content. In addition to tutoring, HelpNow also offers self-study tools that can be used at the student’s own pace or to guide collaboration with peers and teachers, and a full-service test center stocked with practice tests for all levels in math, reading, and writing as well as college preparatory tests such as the SAT.
JobNow is Brainfuse’s one-stop-shop for job seekers, and it includes career help, resume help, interview prep, and much more. This service is perfect for those who need a little guidance on writing a resume or cover letter, developing job-related skills, or even adjusting to a new career. Users can get live help from expert Job Coaches for assistance with interview preparation, resume creation, or job searching.
Finally, VetNow is a resource center specifically geared towards military veterans making the transition to civilian life. It includes tools for updating a resume, navigating the VA system, and seeking local support for vets and their families. In addition to expert Job Coaches, VetNow can also connect users with Veteran Navigators, who offer an additional level of expertise and understanding when it comes to the unique benefits veterans can take advantage of and challenges that they face.
“We know that Brainfuse will be a great resource for our community with tools to help students of all ages as well as veterans and job-seekers,” said Barry Trott, Special Projects and Tech Services director at WRL. “We are grateful to the Library of Virginia for making Brainfuse available to WRL and other libraries in the state.”
HelpNow, JobNow, and VetNow are all available and free to use through WRL‘s website.
