Man Injured in York County After Crash Resulted in Power Outage

YORK COUNTY — A vehicle crash caused a man to be injured and also a power outage in parts of the county.

At approximately 3:08 p.m., Virginia State Police (VSP) were called to a single vehicle crash at the 1100 block of Old York-Hampton Hwy. in Yorktown.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the driver of a 2017 Toyota Highlander, 76-year-old Gary Boxer, ran off the roadway and struck several electric poles with his vehicle before crashing into the fence of a residence.

Boxer was taken Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the crash, power service has been interrupted within the immediate vicinity of the scene. Dominion Energy has been notified and is in the process of making repairs. Meanwhile, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is rerouting traffic.
