Busch Gardens Is Looking For Howl-O-Scream Performers

WILLIAMSBURG — For people who love everything about Halloween but also want to earn some extra cash, look no further than Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW).

BGW is looking for avid Halloween revelers to audition for their “Scare Squad” as the park puts on the highly anticipated and award winning Howl-O-Scream event.

As a member of the Scare Squad performers will be transformed by top of the line makeup artists into any number of classic Halloween characters.

All interested applicants must apply online and select a specific time for their audition process prior to attending the audition.

Pay starts at $15-an-hour, plus a $500 sign-on bonus if you apply and audition by Aug. 14.

All who audition should be aware of the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be able to work long sets (multiple hours) doing repetitive movement and vocalizations
  • Applicants must be able to wear make-up and/or masks
  • Applicants must be comfortable working in dark conditions
  • Experience is not required, just a passion for Halloween

Auditions are held every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Busch Gardens Entertainment Office, located at 1 Busch Gardens Blvd. in Williamsburg.

Scare Squad auditions take place in a group setting where you will be asked to create a mock Howl-O-Scream experience for the casting team. There will also be improvisational an physicality exercises to demonstrate your vocal and physical stamina, startle ability, and scare tactics. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes that allow for free movement.
