WILLIAMSBURG — A North Carolina man has been arrested after driving into the Walsingham Academy sign.
On Saturday, July 24 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Williamsburg police officers responded to a single-vehicle accident at 1100 Jamestown Rd.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a red-colored Ram 1500 pickup truck had driven into the brick Walsingham Academy sign.
Both the truck and the sign sustained damage.
The driver was identified as 42-year-old Matthew Hauser of Charlotte, North Carolina. After officers conducted a field sobriety test, Hauser was arrested for Destruction of Property and Driving under the Influence (DUI).
Hauser was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail (VPRJ), where he was issued arrest warrants for Destruction of Property and a DUI.
No injuries were reported and the value of damage of the Walsingham Academy sign has not yet been determined.
