NEWPORT NEWS — A suspect has been arrested in the December 9, 2020 shooting and armed robbery in Yorktown that left one victim with serious injuries.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) has announced the arrest of Davion Terrell Janifer, 20 year old male who is listed as a resident of Newport News, was arrested and charged in the shooting and armed robbery, which occurred last December at the 7-Eleven store located at the 8600 block of George Washington Memorial Highway.
According to YPSO, Janifer has been charged with the following:
- Shooting, stabbing, etc., with the intent to maim, kill
- Conspiracy to commit a felony
- Use or display of a firearm in committing a felony
- Possession or transportation of firearms, firearms ammunition, stun weapons, explosives or concealed weapons by convicted felons.
On the night of the crime, deputies were dispatched to the location at 10:08 p.m. A male store employee was shot and taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition, of which he survived.
An investigation showed that two suspects came into the store, with one using a firearm to demand money.
Janifer is currently being held at Newport News City Jail.
