WILLIAMSBURG — The City of Williamsburg‘s Water Treatment Plant earned the 2020 Excellence in Waterworks Operations/Performance Gold Award from the Office of Drinking Water, which is an arm of the Virginia Department of Health, a city press release said.
The gold award recognizes facilities that excel in three different categories; filtration, clarification and backwash. This is the fourth gold award the city has received.
“Our Water Treatment Plant has received recognition for its excellence every year since 2005,” Director of Public Works & Utilities Daniel Clayton said. “Despite COVID and all of the obstacles that came with it, our water plant team continued its outstanding work to ensure that City residents had reliable, safe drinking water.”
The city’s water treatment plant releases an annual Water Quality Report each spring. Read the 2020 report on the city’s website.
