WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Police Department is accepting applications for
those interested in becoming a member of the newly formed Citizen Advisory
Committee (CAC).
The CAC is a forum for police-community interaction to address public safety and
related issues in order to further enhance the quality of life in our community. Five
members are appointed by the Chief of Police, in consultation with the Mayor and the
City Manager, to serve two-year terms, not to exceed two consecutive full terms. The
committee will meet quarterly.
Those eligible to apply to the CAC include residents of the City of Williamsburg,
members of the Williamsburg business community, members of the local media, and
local community-based social service organizations.
The members of the CAC will make recommendations for the purpose of improving
police practices, refining police community relations, promoting openness between the
police and public, and increasing public awareness about the role of the police.
For a list of the CAC’s responsibilities and more details about the selection process,
please visit williamsburgva.gov/cac. An online application is available at the bottom of
the webpage for those interested in applying.
The Williamsburg Police Department is eager to carry on the tradition of enriching the
partnership with our residents and community stakeholders with this committee.
