Mountain Bike Cross Country Races Will Take Place at York River

WILLIAMSBURG — This weekend, Williamsburg has the perfect day planned for mountain bikers.

The event, Sunday Sizzle at York River State Park, 9801 York River Park Rd., is a series of mountain bike cross country races on Sunday, July 11. 

Whether you are a beginner or expert, there is a race for everyone. 

The Expert Race for Expert Men and Women, and Junior/High School Boys and Girls Advanced will take place between 9 a.m. and 9:05 a.m. 

Sport Races are for Sport Men and Women and will take place from 9:02 to 9:03 a.m. 

Beginner Races for Beginner Men, Women, Junior/HS Boys and Girls will take place from 9:06 to 9:10 a.m. 

Single Speed will take place between 9:10 a.m. and 1 p.m. 

The Marathon 5-hour race will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All races cost a fee of $25, with the exception of the Marathon 5-hour race, which cost $35. 

Riders will go on a six-and-a-half to eight mile loop, starting at York River State Park.

The course will use Bobcat North, Bobcat, John Blair and Backbone mountain biking trails.
