
YORK COUNTY — A 21-year-old man has been charged with five felonies following a shooting that left another man injured.
On Tuesday, July 6 at approximately 9:32 p.m., York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) deputies responded to the 200 Block of Tam-O-Shanter Blvd. for a report of two subjects shooting at each other.
Upon arrival, witnesses told deputies that one of the subjects had fled in a truck.
The victim, described by YPSO as a 54-year-old black male from Hampton, had been shot and drove himself away from the area. He was later transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The other subject was located by YPSO’s Emergency Response Team in a nearby apartment where he was last known to reside.
By 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, YPSO investigators arrested Elliot Darnell White, a 21-year-old male.
He was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail and was charged with five felonies, Shooting in a Public Place Causing Injury, Malicious Shooting, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Violent Felon, Firearm Used in the Commission of a Felony and Reckless Handling of a Firearm.
He was also charged with a misdemeanor of Destruction of Property.
