
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — This Sunday, July 4 is the federal holiday commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the Unites States.
Like all federal holidays, July 4 will affect most of the operational hours of local government offices. Below is a list of local government closures in observance of Independence Day.
York County
York County offices will be closed on Monday, July 5 to observe Independence Day.
The following facilities will be closed on July 5: county government offices, courts, York-Poquoson Social Services, Virginia Cooperative Extension Service and Waste Management Center Administrative Office as well as Waste Management’s drop-off area and transfer station.
Libraries will be closed on both Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5.
The following facilities will remain open on July 5: Waste Management Drop-Off Area, Waste Management Transfer Station and VPPSA Composting Facility.
Curbside garbage and recycling collections will maintain normal hours of operation on July 5.
James City County
James City County offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will be closed to observe the Independence Day holiday.
The following facilities and offices will be closed on Sunday, July 4:
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, convenience centers, Garbage Transfer Station,
County offices and courts will be closed on Monday, July 5.
Libraries will be closed July 4-5.
All County parks will remain open and curbside recycling will maintain its normal hours of operation.
City of Williamsburg
All City of Williamsburg offices will be closed on Monday, July 5 to observe Independence Day
This will include the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street, Quarterpath Recreation Center, Williamsburg Regional Library administrative offices in the Stryker Center and the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue.
Williamsburg Regional Library will be closed on both Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5.
Waller Mill Park will continue normal operating hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Garbage collection will maintain its normal operating hours on Monday and Tuesday.
City of Poquoson
Poquoson offices, facilities, libraries and courts will be closed in observance of Independence Day.
All offices, services and courts will be closed on Monday, July 5.
The Poquoson Public Library will be closed both Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5.
