YORKTOWN — The Rotary Club of Yorktown has awarded $1,500 scholarships to three York County High School graduating seniors.

Every year, the Yorktown Rotary Club offers scholarships to York County High School students.

Each recipient submitted an essay based on what “Service Above Self” means to them. They were then voted on by a panel of Rotarians as well as other community leaders.

The Rotary Club provides humanitarian service in the community, workplace and throughout the world with their motto, “Service Above Self.”

At their June 7 meeting, the club honored and awarded three graduating seniors with scholarships of $1,500 each.

The recipients were Grafton High senior Emma Hodges, who will be attending Liberty University; Tabb High senior Cade Shaw, who will attend University of Virginia; and York High senior Savannah Reed, who will be attending Virginia Tech
