GLOUCESTER — A local man has died after a single vehicle crash in Gloucester.
At approximately 12:51 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, Virginia State Police (VSP) were called to investigate a single vehicle crash that resulted in serious, life-threatening injuries.
The driver of a 2003 Mazda Tribute SUV, identified as 61-year-old Mark Stuart Thomas of Gloucester, was traveling in the southbound lanes of Route 17/George Washington Memorial Highway at Cannon Way when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree.
Thomas suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was take to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation conducted by VSP showed that Thomas was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
His family has been notified.
