TOANO — The Kensington School is moving its Toano preschool and daycare to a new location.
Currently located at 8300 Richmond Road, the Toano school will be moving to 115 Norge Ln., where the former Farm Fresh grocery store used to be.
The space will be divided into sections to offer several leasing spaces. Chesapeake Bank currently occupies one half of the building.
“Their side of the building is amazing,” Allison Greene, director of the Toano location, said in a phone interview. According to Greene, Henderson Inc. will be renovating the 15,000 square ft. space for Kensington.
The Toano location opened in 2018, and, according to Greene, the facility had a full waiting list before it officially opened. “Now we’ll be able to serve more families,” Green said.
According to a June 8 news release from Kensington School, the new location will allow the school to triple the amount of space and serve over a 100 new families in the Norge and Toano area. Offering natural light, the space will feature a large gym, indoor play space, a library and an abundance of outdoor green space.
A projected opening date is set for late September to early October.
The school will also expand some of its offerings, including its kindergarten program, which will mirror the current program at the Williamsburg campus.
“We’re also looking into an after school program for Norge Elementary School,” Greene said.
