Williamsburg Community Foundation Awards Scholarships to Area Seniors

WILLIAMSBURG — On Sunday, June 6, Williamsburg Community Foundation (WCF) announced the 2021 recipients of its Williamsburg-James City County Schools (WJCC) Scholarship Fund.

The foundation awarded $114,125 in scholarship funding to 73 graduating seniors from Warhill, Lafayette and Jamestown high schools.

In its 47th year, scholarships ranged from $1,000 to $5,000 and are meant to use for post-graduation higher education, which includes both 2-year and 4-year programs. Several factors are taken into consideration when choosing recipients such as extracurricular activities, application essay, class rank and financial need.

Scholarship recipient James Scott will be attending Virginia Tech this fall

There several corporate sponsors including TowneBank of Williamsburg, Riverside Doctors’ Hospital, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and Chesapeake Bank. Additionally, nine of the scholarships were funded by residents who donated to the scholarship’s endowment.
