YORKTOWN — The Watermen’s Museum will honor the Armed Forces and American heroes in a weekend celebration.
Yorktown Armed Forces and Military Appreciation Day will be held on Saturday, June 12.
The town-wide event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in multiple locations.
The Watermen’s Museum, 309 Water St., will have special military exhibits, living history, period music and maritime crafts with a focus on the War of 1812 and the 1813 Battle of the USRC “Surveyor.”
A special ceremony to honor all veterans will take place at noon, and a U.S. Coast Guard ceremony to honor The 1813 battle will be held at 2:30 p.m.
At York Hall, 301 Main St, there will be WWII displays, Red Cross and United Service Organizations (USO) exhibits, along with several period antique cars.
