York County Schools Offers K-5 Summer Academic Camps

YORK COUNTY — Parents can enroll their elementary schoolers in an academic-focused summer camp. 

The York County School Division (YCSD) is offering Elementary Academic Enrichment Camps for division students.

There will be six camps offered throughout the summer for kindergarten-fifth graders.

All sessions will be offered from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Yorktown Elementary School, 131 Siege Ln

ABC Easy As 123

Grades K-1

From June 28 through July 8, this camp will offer remediation to students for basic letter sounds and recognition, as well as basic number sense.

Reader’s Theater

Grades K-5

From June 28 through July 15, students will enhance their skills in public speaking, fluency and expression with reading scripts while increasing self confidence and motivation toward reading.

Young Authors

Grades K-5

From June 28 through July 15, 

Students will be challenged to learn new skills in the writing process, such as incorporating literary elements, dialogue and expanded vocabulary. 

English Language Learner Enrichment

Grades K-5

From July 5 through July 22, this camp will offer engaging instruction to English Learners that focuses on speaking, listening, reading and writing through hands-on activities and various lessons. 

STEM ENRICHMENT

Grades 3-4

From July 12 through July 28, students will learn robotics and coding to explore scientific concepts and will have the opportunity to solve real world problems using the engineering design process. 

Grade 6 Math Prep

Grade 5

This camp is for students enrolling in Pre-Algebra 6 for the 2021-22 school year. From July 12 through July 28, students will build their math skills while preparing for a successful transition to Pre-Algebra 6. 

As there is limited seating, YCSD encourages those interested to submit their interest forms before sports fill up.
