James City County
James City County offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe Memorial Day, May 31.
The following facilities and offices will be closed: county offices, James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, Convenience Centers, Garbage Transfer Station, courts, and libraries.
All County Parks are open, however, some parks have stores/offices which are closed for the holiday. Chickahominy Riverfront Park Office/Store and the James City County Marina Office/Store will be open on May 31.Freedom Park Store/Office and Little Creek Reservoir Store/Office will be closed May 31. These Office/Stores are open Saturdays and Sundays only.
Curbside Recycling will have a one day delay. Monday’s recycling will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, Thursday’s on Friday and Friday’s on Saturday.
All offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street, Williamsburg Regional Library administrative offices in the Stryker Center, and the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue will all be closed on Monday, May 31.
Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Quarterpath
Recreation Center has been closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19.
The following will observe adjusted operating hours:
• Williamsburg Library: Closed Sunday, May 30 through Monday, May 31
• Recycling Collection: Delayed one day. Regularly scheduled Monday collection will be picked up Tuesday; regularly scheduled Tuesday collection will be picked up Wednesday.
Garbage will be collected on Monday and Tuesday as scheduled.

A convenient 24-hour bill payment drop box is located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for City transactions. Payments can also be made online. Drop box payments made on Monday, May 31 will not be posted until Tuesday, June 1.
York County offices, courts, Virginia Cooperative Extension Service, York-Poquoson Social Services, York County Public Libraries and book drop, Waste Management Administrative Office, and the VPPSA Composting Facility are all closed on May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.
Curbside recycling collections will not be collected on Monday. Collections are delayed one day until all routes are completed on Saturday.
Curbside garbage collections are not affected by the holiday. Residents are reminded to have their garbage containers at the roadside by 7 a.m.
The Waste Management Transfer Station and citizen drop-off areas for garbage and recycling are open regular operating hours.
