YORK COUNTY — A single-vehicle ATV crash has resulted in the death of a York County man.

On Monday, May 10, 2021 at approximately 11:13 a.m., the York-Poquoson’s Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) responded to a “single-vehicle accident with injuries” at the 1600 block of Hornsbyville Rd in Yorktown.

The crash occurred on private property off of the roadway.

Upon arrival, the operator of the ATV was found deceased by YPSO and York County Fire and Life Safety. He was later identified as 66-year-old Jean Poitras.

Poitras’s death appeared to be caused by the ATV crash. Speeding was determined to be contributing factor.
